what's new!
What's new! What's happening! What am I working on?
I have a LOT of wine corks! I don't drink a lot of wine. Hardly any at all, really. I only like sweet wines. Not a fan of dry wine, but I digress. Lucky for me, I don't even have to drink wine to get corks! Ever since I started making recycled jewelry people have been giving me wine corks. I have bags and boxes full. I like to go through and see the sizes, colors, and graphics. All of these play into what I will do with them. Breast Cancer AwarenessThis past weekend I was gifted a bag of wine corks. In them were the wonderful pink corks! I knew exactly what I was going to do with them! I have some pink ribbon glass beads that I added to them and made this necklace and key chain. Grape Bunch OrnamentsThe "grapes" in this ornament are not painted. These are naturally stained by the wine. I think the different patterns and colors just add so much more depth to it. Wine Cork PumpkinsRecently I have expanded my cork art beyond just jewelry. I glued some corks together and painted them to make pumpkins in different sizes. I also made some "grape bunches" out of some red wine stained corks. I have to say i was really impressed with how well they turned out! I have plans to make earrings and bracelets out of wine corks as well. Cutting wine corks presents some challenges I haven't quite worked out yet. But as soon as I do I will post them here!
In the meantime, if you have some wine corks, bottle caps, buttons, or anything you think I can use just send me an email at reusinbysusanfl@gmail.com or you can bring them to me at the Ybor City Saturday Market.
